LIT Waco
Omg the way I was connected to this amazing event was GOD ONLY! I was in Waco at another event called “Heart of Waco”! A very excited young woman and her adorable daughter came up to my brothers Fry Dat trailer wanting their Jalapeño Lemonade! I don’t hand out my book cards but something said “give her your card”! So I did and the conversation was so amazing and unforgettable. Tracy Guillory told me about her husband Keith and his love for kids learning to read! I got to meet other amazing authors and hear their stories! Coincidence, my booth was next to another amazing author Jackie Smith! We went to Highschool together and books brought us back together! It was an amazing experience and I look forward to going back!
Reading at Deep Vellum
I am so grateful for Deep Vellum! They published my first book and gave me the opportunity to read it in their book store! Writing a book was never on my bucket list. BUT God had bigger plans for me that I could never see coming! I grew up struggling to read. I was diagnosed in 6th grade with Dyslexia and my God parents put me in different programs to help me learn and comprehend what I was reading. Fast forward to 27 years…I wrote a book! I want kids to understand that just because they have dyslexia or any learning disorder doesn’t mean they can’t do amazing things in their life. I want all kids to realize that the careers in my book are obtainable!
BAMM
I was so excited to be part of BAMMs (Being a Melanin Mom) first event! I got to meet so many kiddos that are destined to be great leaders! To see the excitement on their faces when doing a science project, putting a brain together and finding fossils put a big smile on my face. I can’t wait to see them grow and become the amazing Scientists, Doctors, lawyers, teachers and so many more things in this world.
